We own it and we answer to our customers.
Customer satisfaction is our biggest priority thus we strive to build trust through every order we send with expectational service.
We receive pallets loaded with 40-pound bags of wheat bran and wheat middlings. Each bag gets transferred into large rolling totes, scoop by scoop until the pallets disappear into our trays. We then hand feed every single tray of our larvae or beetles.
Fresh vegetables also get delivered on pallets in bags or totes weighing between 35 and 50 pounds. These vegetables are then hand fed into our industrial vegetable slicing machine create perfect proportions to be fed to our hungry and thirsty worms.
The Greek word Kirkos translates to “circle”. However, going back further into history, the Proto-Indo-European word kirk is translated to mean “to bend”.
Our logo depicts how mealworm frass is nutritious for plants, creating healthier soil. When incorporated, frass can contribute to the biome by adding important microbial activity into the soil. Thus, a mealworm that eats grains and vegetables gives back to the earth through its nutritious frass.
Finally, the logo is brought to life through its green colors. This palate was intentionally chosen to represent life, biology, and a plant friendly environment.
Kirkos is committed to giving customers what they need and want, a personal touch. This means all customers have the ability to communicate directly to a real person when they place an order.
It is important for us to truly to get to know the people we do business with, so the way you communicate best, is the way we communicate best. Whether a phone call, email, or text, we will ensure you are treated to the best service in the industry.
In many instances, our service has grown many customers into personal friendships.
Our staff interacts with our customers directly to strategize around weather events, extreme temperatures, shipping, and even the types of packaging so they are not paying for shipped air.
To us, the bottom dollar is what is best for each customer.
We believe in doing things right, especially when it comes to feeding our mini livestock.
Our mealworms thrive on a simple and consistent diet of high-quality ingredients. The vegetables we use are food-grade—though they might not win any beauty contests, our mealworms don’t mind! To ensure top-notch nutrition, we source our grain from a trusted local co-op, the same quality you’d find fit for any livestock.
By prioritizing quality in every detail, we raise mealworms you can trust.
Every mealworm we ship is raised entirely on-site, from the moment a beetle lays an egg to the fully developed larva. Our worms are harvested just minutes to hours before packaging, ensuring peak freshness. Until they’re ready to ship, they’re kept cool and moist in our dedicated chill room, so they arrive at your door in perfect condition.
The journey to your door starts with a meticulous cleaning process. We run trays of mealworms through our system to remove frass, extra grain, and any dead larvae, leaving only fresh worms. Once cleaned, they are sorted into four size categories: large, medium, small, and minis.
Each tray is carefully inspected by our team. To ensure accuracy, a sample of 100 worms from every tray is counted and weighed in grams. Once they pass inspection, the worms are packaged into vented cups or mesh bags and placed into ventilated boxes.
The final step is storage in our chill room, where the mealworms stay cool and fresh until pickup by carriers or transportation to the Omaha airport. This careful process ensures every shipment arrives in excellent condition, ready to meet your needs.
